Superintendent Dr. Pulver told trustees the goals grew out of a summer workshop and outside facilitation intended to "crystallize and get centered on our goals and our priorities and our core values." The adopted document lists five priority goals that the superintendent summarized as: pursuing academic excellence for all students; promoting student well-being and safety; fostering collaboration and partnerships; strategically managing financial resources; and providing high-quality facilities.
Dr. Pulver framed the first goal as a focus on rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and postsecondary preparedness, saying the district aims to "provide exemplary preparation for college, career, and really future success." He said the board's work this year will include data-driven interventions and supports for teachers to drive student growth.
Trustees discussed how the goals align with the district's practices and community activities referenced earlier in the meeting, including student engagement events and new facilities. The motion to adopt the priorities and core values passed unanimously, recorded as "motion carries 5 0." The board directed staff to publish the approved goals to staff and include them in board highlights distributed to the community.
What happens next: Dr. Pulver said an official copy of the adopted priorities and core values will be distributed to staff and included in the district's post-meeting highlights.
