Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office honored for perfect audit score from state auditor

Larry Stein, Oklahoma County assessor, told the Budget Board that the Oklahoma Tax Commission and Auditor Cindy Byrd honored the county assessor’s office for earning a perfect score on its annual performance audit. "The Oklahoma tax commission is extremely vigilant on watching what all of us do across the state of Oklahoma," Stein said, and he credited his staff for the award. He invited employees forward for a photograph and said there would be cake after the meeting to mark the recognition.
The award, Stein said, was one of six given statewide and Oklahoma County was the largest of the six recipients. "It's got my name on it, but it really belongs to the whole office," he said, and asked the board to honor the employees "who are doing such a great job for Oklahoma County." Auditor Cindy Byrd and the Oklahoma Tax Commission were cited by Stein as the entities granting the recognition.
Stein also used his time to offer staff assistance to legislators: he said he had prepared documents outlining the fiscal impact of more than 120 ad valorem bills pending in the legislature and invited questions or requests for those materials. "If you have any questions ... please send them my way," he said.
No formal action was required on the presentation. The board acknowledged the staff and accepted the presentation as given. The meeting then continued to consent and budget items.
