Summary
DeKalb commissioners voted to keep dispatch and community corrections on the RightStuff timekeeping system for one year and directed staff to form a cross‑department committee to evaluate countywide timekeeping options, including PTO increment changes.
The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 voted to retain dispatch and community corrections on the RightStuff timekeeping platform for one year while the county forms a committee to evaluate broader timekeeping options.
County staff said the county has already paid $42,500 in initial costs and $6,000 for time clocks and outlined possible next steps: remain with RightStuff for some departments, move others to an alternate vendor (AOD), or create a phased approach. Commissioner discussion centered on cost, who pays recurring fees, and the practicalities of moving only the sheriff’s office or departments incrementally.
Commissioner (Unidentified Speaker 7) moved to authorize rescinding the cancellation for RightStuff for the two departments and for Andrew (county attorney/staff) to send the required letter to restore the automatic renewal; the motion was seconded and passed 3–0. The board then voted to form a timekeeping committee — with a commissioner representative and staff from auditor, assessor, transfer, GIS, planning, highway and human resources — to evaluate department needs and rollout. Commissioners also flagged PTO rounding and suggested the committee examine whether PTO increments should be smaller than one hour to better track leave.
