The Muscatine City Council on Feb. 17 approved assigning the fixed-base operator (FBO) lease and the airport manager agreement at Muscatine Municipal Airport to Jet Air Inc.
Director Steinman told the council the action is "just an assignment of the existing leases," adding that "none of the lease language changes" and "there will be no changes in staff at the airport." He said Rev Aviation (a DBA or subsidiary of Carver Aero) is divesting and Jet Air is seeking to grow operations; Rev employees will become Jet Air employees and the transition is expected to be "a smooth transition, effective March 1."
The airport advisory commission reviewed and recommended the assignment, Steinman said, and the council voted to adopt the resolution without recorded dissent.
The resolution approving the assignment does not change lease terms, according to staff, and directs airport staff to finalize assignment paperwork and coordinate the onboarding of employees as part of the March 1 transition. The council did not record any public testimony on the item during the meeting.
Next steps include finalizing the assignment documentation and ensuring continuity of airport services as Jet Air assumes operations on the stated effective date.
