Midyear LCAP update: Los Alamitos USD reports goals on track and $3.4M in LCFF supplemental funds

Melissa Davis, Director of Education Services, presented the district's midyear Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) update for 2025–26, describing the differences between LCFF (the funding formula) and the LCAP (the plan that describes how funds are spent).
Davis said the district's LCFF supplemental funds stand at about $3.4 million for 2025–26 and that the district's unduplicated pupil percentage is 17.63%. She reviewed the three broad LCAP goals and told trustees that metrics associated with goals 1–3 are currently "in progress" and on target at the midyear check. "We are implementing our 25–26 LCAP as planned," she said.
Davis summarized expenditures to date and said the district is on track with planned spending for each goal. She outlined next steps in the LCAP timeline: a community partner survey in March, a district advisory committee meeting in April, a draft LCAP available in May and a board approval target in June.
Trustees asked about strategies to boost survey participation; Davis said staff are brainstorming outreach approaches and considering site-level incentives to increase family responses. Because this was a midyear update, the presentation required no board action.
