Vessels Elementary students present PBIS videos and receive certificates at board meeting

Students and staff from Vessels Elementary presented a series of short videos and a song demonstrating the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) expectations at the Cypress School District Board meeting on Jan. 14.
Principal Mark Holman introduced the fifth- and sixth-grade student council and described a district video library the students helped produce. "My name is Mark Holman, and I am the proud principal of Vessels Elementary School," Holman said before turning the floor over to student representatives who demonstrated a walk-and-talk routine, handball rules and a brief song tied to conflict-resolution strategies.
Trustees and audience members responded with applause and congratulations; a trustee asked whether the videos were a student council project or a wider grade-level effort and staff explained that some videos were produced by a single class and others had broader participation. Superintendent Anne Silops told the board that certificates would be presented to students who led the Pledge of Allegiance and that, because of earlier technical difficulties, the videos and meeting recording will be posted to the district’s YouTube channel for later viewing.
Board members thanked the students and teachers for their work and the presentation concluded with certificates and a group photo at the dais. The board recorded appreciation for the Vessels student council’s PBIS material and for teacher support that enabled the project.
