Staff updates: safe-harbor extension to Dec. 10, 2027; relocation of three structures and upcoming community engagement

During the Feb. 17 meeting, housing staff updated the Trust on grants, projects and outreach.
Staff reported that the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities granted the town a safe-harbor extension through Dec. 10, 2027 based on the addition of new rental units, a development that preserves compliance with related state programs. Staff also described a project to relocate three structures from 41 Jefferson Avenue to 158 Madaket Road; two units will be restricted to 150% of area median income (AMI) and one to 240% AMI.
Staff said the transfer of Housing Nantucket funds into the Trust was complete and that Habitat for Humanity had expended roughly 75% of its grant funds to the state and remained on schedule. Staff also confirmed that the RFP for the rental-preservation program administrator was under procurement review and expected to be issued in the coming weeks, and that a first community engagement workshop was scheduled for March 10.
The chair and members thanked staff for new agenda briefs designed to help the public and Trust members navigate packet materials. Staff said communications and outreach would be coordinated with the select board and the Trust as the projects proceed.
