The Anaheim Elementary School District Board on Jan. 15 approved several noncontroversial action items by unanimous votes.
The board adopted a resolution reaffirming district practices related to immigration and enforcement designed to "provide a safe and supportive environment for all students regardless of immigration status," as described in the agenda item. Trustees also declared February as "Make Kindness Contagious" month by resolution.
On human resources matters the board ratified the appointment of employee #01152025-01 as Barton vice principal effective Jan. 6, 2025, and approved the appointment of employee #01152025-02 to the position of Gower principal with an effective date to be determined. The board congratulated Cynthia Murguia and Dr. Lori Nash on their new roles.
The consent calendar, considered routine, was approved in a single motion with no items pulled. Board members also heard district news and community updates, including holiday distribution events that provided more than 700 toys and items to families and staff nominations for county awards.
