"Diaper need isn't a charity issue. It is a public health issue, it is a child well‑being issue, and it is a workforce issue," White told the committee. She said the organization has distributed more than 1.7 million diapers since inception and delivered 465,000 diapers in the past year.
White proposed partnering with state agencies such as the Department of Public Health and Department of Social Services to use existing county infrastructure for distribution and to identify families most at risk. Committee members asked about logistics and agency partners; White said she already works with DPH and DSS and would use state agency points of contact to reach families and coordinate procurement, distribution and outcome reporting.
Lawmakers expressed support for the low‑cost intervention and suggested outreach through OB offices and local health providers to identify needs.
