Board previews new digital supplements for sports medicine, ASL and AP precalculus

Los Alamitos Unified School District education staff presented three sets of supplemental digital materials that will be available on public preview until the next board meeting.

Mrs. Reed introduced CTE Sports Medicine Levels 1 and 2 supplements designed to teach injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, anatomy, physiology, first aid and CPR. "Students can log on. Our counselors use it, and it gives us reports as a school, also as a district, to identify students who are off track," she said, describing the resource as a diagnostic support tool for counselors and teachers.

She also presented four videos sourced from the Deaf Professional Arts Network to supplement an ASL-for-honors course; the selections feature native ASL users and focus on cultural relevance and advocacy. Finally, staff presented flippedmath.com lessons and assessments to accompany the district's transition from an honors-weighted precalculus to an AP precalculus course so students have aligned practice toward the AP assessment.

All three supplemental resources will remain on public preview through the next board meeting while staff and trustees continue review.
