Collingswood finance report: audit complete with no findings; multiple contracts to come before board

The Collingswood Public School District’s business administrator and board secretary, Bethany, told the Committee of the Whole on Jan. 6 that the district’s annual audit has been completed, filed with the state and will be presented by the auditor at the board’s formal meeting on Monday. She said the auditor’s Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) is a long document (about 300 pages) and recommended members read the auditor’s management report for a concise summary.
"The audit is done. It is filed with the state," Bethany said, adding that the audit synopsis was attached to the materials and that the auditor would present more detail at Monday’s meeting. She told the board there were no audit findings in the synopsis.
Bethany walked the board through several items slated for approval at the next meeting: a contract recommendation for Home Care Therapies LLC to provide 1-to-1 skilled nursing for a student; an ESS contract addendum to add secretarial substitutes to the vendor list; an annual Ed Data Services membership for $7,110; approval of Leonard Educational Services for child-study interventions; and a donation of just under $4,000 from Freshfly Productions to support a PAWS TV student trip to New York City.
On student-activity funds Bethany said the district manages approximately "half 1,000,000" on a given day, which administration described as a reminder that activity accounts are significant. She also reviewed food-service monitoring processes and said the district tries not to run deficits in food service.
Next steps: the auditor will attend the formal meeting to present results; the listed contracts and consent items will be on Monday’s agenda for board action.
