The Alba Tourism Committee approved an application not to exceed $5,000 to support the Crazy Cool Boulevard Cruise, organizers told the committee.
Organizers said this year marks the 25th anniversary of the car show portion and noted that the event draws participants from many states including Florida, Washington, Colorado and New Mexico. “People really enjoyed that,” a presenter said, describing the event’s strong out-of-state participation and its role as a focal point for class reunions and family gatherings.
Organizers acknowledged that sponsorship is limited because the event is short in duration, and that most budget requests go to advertising and entertainment to attract visitors. Committee members asked whether attendees typically stay overnight; the organizers said many do, and described participants lingering in hotel parking lots after the event.
A motion to approve the application for the Alba Crazy Cool Boulevard Cruise not to exceed $5,000 was made and recorded by roll call.
