Commission appoints Design Review alternate, schedules March 30 zoning workshop and moves to executive session

At the close of regular business the Simsbury Zoning Commission appointed Thomas Mark as an alternate to the Design Review Board; the motion passed by voice vote, 6-0.
Staff reminded commissioners that a community workshop on the zoning-regulations rewrite will be held on March 30 (open house and presentation, with breakout stations), and that outreach materials (flyer, social posts and town web content) will be prepared in the coming weeks. Staff also reported that the McLean expansion recently received inland-wetlands approval and is expected to file a site-plan application with zoning within about a month.
Commissioners discussed the recent temporary-sign forum and said they would seek to keep sign-regulation momentum by moving sign revisions earlier in the rewrite schedule. Staff also informed the commission that a judge affirmed the zoning commission's decision in the Silverman lawsuit; the decision will be circulated to commissioners.
The commission then moved into an executive session to discuss pending litigation pursuant to General Statutes section 1-206(b) and invited the town planner; the motion carried unanimously.
