The House Transportation Committee unanimously voted to report Senate Bill 148 recommending the designation of a stretch of State Route 2 as the Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers Memorial Highway.
Senator Serino appeared and recounted Seller’s service in Vietnam, his death in action on June 19, 1967, and his Purple Heart. Serino said the soldier’s son, Denny Sellers, worked with the senator’s office and the Ohio Department of Transportation on the request for signage and local details.
Vice Chair Daniels asked a technical question about wording that describes the northeastbound and southwestbound lanes on what is otherwise an east–west route; Senator Serino and Representative Troy explained the phrasing reflected the local curve in the roadway and that the son requested the specific designation. Serino said the county engineer and ODOT coordinated the practical steps, including signage and lighting.
Vice Chair Daniels moved that the bill be favorably reported and recommended for passage; the clerk called the roll and members voted unanimously to report the bill out of committee. Chair instructed members to sign the committee report and left the roll open until 5 p.m.
