San Bernardino recognizes volunteers, proclaims Engineers Week and Lunar New Year

The council honored local volunteers and businesses for a community landscaping project, proclaimed Feb. 15–21 Engineers Week and Feb. 21 Lunar New Year events, and invited residents to celebrations and community activities.
The City of San Bernardino used the meeting to acknowledge neighborhood volunteers and local businesses that spearheaded a landscaping and beautification project at Kendall Drive and 48th Street. City leaders named individual volunteers and firms — including Luis Ojeda, Triple H Constructions, Serrano Nursery, and other local partners — and said the donated labor and materials saved the city time and expense.
The council also issued proclamations: it designated Feb. 15–21, 2026, as National Engineers Week in San Bernardino, recognizing the engineering division’s work on street, bridge and utility projects; and it proclaimed Feb. 21, 2026, as Lunar New Year in the city and invited cultural organizations and the public to a community festival running from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. that will feature dragon dances and local vendors.
Council speakers and staff encouraged residents to attend the Lunar New Year celebration and thanked volunteers for transforming a formerly vacant lot into a neighborhood asset.
