Porter County commissioners on Jan. 27 voted to approve multiple infrastructure contracts and contract amendments, including a $456,000 construction engineering agreement for a trail reroute project and a sanitary force main relocation award capped near $235,000.
County staff said the $456,000 agreement for the trail reroute (identified in the record as the Butler Caron Cyberding agreement) is partially funded by a Next Level Trails grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Commissioners approved the agreement by voice vote.
The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Whispering Sands development to memorialize maximum county payments for relocating a sanitary force main and then awarded the relocation contract to H & G Underground Utilities for a not-to-exceed price of $234,929.40. Commissioners discussed the funding cap (approximately $235,000) and approved both the MOU and the award by voice vote.
In related actions, commissioners approved contract amendment No. 2 for Elliot Henderson Inc. for the Mark 8 Greenway Trail Phase 3, adding $38,000 to the total and moving $6,000 between design tasks for a net increase of $44,000 to cover additional inspection and post-construction services.
The motions passed by voice vote. The county indicated state grant funds and county appropriations will cover project costs; the transcript does not provide detailed line-item budget breakdowns.
