The Anacortes City Council authorized a $364,218.88 contract with Summit X Contractors to perform Terrace Drive utility improvements, including replacement of a failing water main, stormwater upgrades, reconstruction of curb and gutter and a partial rebuild of the roadway.
Public Works Director Lee said the Terrace Drive work addresses a section with a low pavement condition index, and the scope includes roughly 100 feet of new 6-inch ductile-iron water main, new catch basins, about 300 feet of 12-inch ductile-iron storm pipe, excavation in areas with compromised subgrade, and about 450 tons of asphalt for repaving. The work is part of the annual AC main replacement program with a $1.7 million budget funded through water rates.
Councilmember Moulton moved to authorize Mayor Walters to sign contract 26016WTR001 with Summit X Contractors for $364,218.88; the motion passed by voice vote. Councilmembers noted a competitive bid environment and a contract price below earlier estimates.
Next steps: staff will execute the contract and schedule construction; the work is expected to improve a low-rated segment of city road and replace aging water infrastructure.
