The St. Louis City Public Infrastructure and Utilities Committee on Jan. 21 voted unanimously to send Board Bill 114 out of committee with a "do pass" recommendation. The bill directs the director of streets to install speed humps on the 5900 block of Kingsbury Avenue pursuant to Ordinance No. 70333 as amended by Ordinance No. 71394.
Alderwoman Shamim Clark Hubbard, sponsor of Board Bill 114, summarized the measure and asked members for their questions and support. "If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Otherwise, I'm asking for your favorable consideration and do pass recommendation on board bill 1 14," she said.
Committee members asked no follow-up questions during the review. Vice Chair Schweitzer, Alderwoman DeBodie and Alderwoman Cox Antoine each indicated they had no questions; Chair Browning voiced general support for traffic-calming measures during the discussion.
The motion to pass Board Bill 114 with a do-pass recommendation was moved by "the alderwoman from the eighth" and seconded by "the alderwoman from the first," as recorded in the roll call. The clerk called the previous roll and the committee recorded five "aye" votes, sending the measure out of committee with the requested recommendation.
No resolutions or written testimony were submitted for this meeting, and the committee adjourned after approving the minutes from its Jan. 14 meeting earlier in the session.
The action now moves to the next stage in the legislative process for Board Bill 114; the committee record shows a do-pass recommendation but does not specify a full-board hearing date or the director of streets' implementation timeline.
