The Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees completed its reorganizational business, electing leadership and confirming representatives to district and county committees.
A motion to select Bonnie Castry as board president was made and members offered congratulations following the motion. Trustee Carey was nominated and approved as vice president by voice vote; the board later approved a clerk nomination (recorded in the transcript as 'doctor Dischamps') and an alternate clerk appointment. The board also confirmed representatives for the nominating committee for the county committee on school district organization, the Orange County political action representative and several district advisory committees (including DLAC and LCAP), generally choosing to continue incumbents or the slate proposed by the president for continuity through the school year.
Trustees discussed the wellness committee's membership (nurses, school psychologists, nutrition services, mental health specialists and student volunteers) and noted the committee meets quarterly. The board adopted the schedule for regular meetings and study sessions (Tuesday evenings, starting at 6 p.m.) and approved the consolidated slate of appointments in a single motion.
The reorganizational proceedings included a request to take a board photograph to mark position changes. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 20.
