The Orange Unified School District board reported several formal closed‑session decisions at the July 18 regular session.
Mister Gonzales read the votes and announced that the board appointed Anne Truex as interim assistant superintendent of educational services and Rebecca Nelson as a principal at an elementary school. The board reported a unanimous ‘yes’ tally for each appointment among those present and noted two absences.
The board also voted to accept a settlement agreement signed by cross‑defendant Peterson Grading as a partial settlement in the case Orange USD v. MTGL, Inc., in Orange County Superior Court (case number recited in the meeting record). The board delegated authority to the assistant superintendent/business services (CBO) to sign the settlement agreement on the district’s behalf.
Other formal actions recorded during open session: the board adopted the meeting agenda at the start of the evening (motion passed 5‑0‑2), approved formation of an ad hoc governance committee (motion passed 5‑0‑2) to draft a governance handbook and training plan, and approved the consent calendar in one motion (5‑0‑2). No vote was taken on the El Rancho charter renewal at this meeting; staff will prepare findings and bring the item back for action.
