Residents, council members press for transparency after Palmdale’s $300,000 to AV Edge

Public commenter Eugene Hernandez said the community has not seen accountability from the organization after the city provided $300,000 in support, asking, “Who were the membership? What were their bylaws? What is the purpose of this organization?” He added that the only council member who raised questions previously was Councilmember Andrea Alarcon and characterized the organization as failing to deliver tangible benefits to impoverished families.
Councilmember Alarcon reiterated a council condition imposed when funding was adopted: that AV Edge provide quarterly progress reports, publicly posted and agendized. She asked staff to ensure that the community receives the substantive materials AV Edge provided to councilmembers (a USB drive was mentioned) and to require future public reporting so residents can evaluate program outcomes and whether subsidized admission, livestreamed content or fee waivers for vulnerable residents are feasible.
Councilmembers asked staff to follow up with AV Edge for written reporting and to agendize future updates so the public can review progress and spending.
