After public testimony, Palmdale council agrees to return immigration response resolution for action

Alarcon said the motion she made previously (January 13) had been partially addressed in updates but that the council had not yet taken the requested next steps: drafting a resolution and considering resource allocations such as legal assistance and business support for affected residents. She argued the council had an obligation to put a clear plan before the public and to consider budgetary action as the city approaches its fiscal deadlines.
Councilmembers debated whether to draft stronger language before the meeting or to return a draft and allow the council to amend it in public. After discussion about timing and the need to consult community groups, the council voted to bring the existing draft resolution and the motion back to the next meeting and to continue outreach and preparatory work in the interim.
The council also requested that staff and community organizations collect evidence (camera times, dates, and locations) so the city can document incidents properly before proposing expenditures tied to Palmdale residents.
