Milton council confirms finance director and approves exempt‑employee policy; study sessions to move to 6 p.m.

The Milton City Council unanimously confirmed Michelle Robeck as the city’s finance director on Feb. 17 after Mayor presented her professional background and recommended removing the interim title.

Mayor said Robeck has a long municipal finance background and recommended she be made permanent. Council member Whelan moved to confirm and Council member Hall seconded; members praised Robeck's clarity explaining budgets and her steady leadership. The motion passed with unanimous approval.

The council also approved a 2026 exempt employees personnel policy that updates language, adds a longevity pay tier, aligns vacation accrual with the IBEW agreement and adds a sick‑leave compensation provision similar to the police guild for employees with 10 years of service. Finance staff said the policy had been reviewed previously in committee and at a study session; Council member Mounts and others praised staff for addressing committee concerns. The motion to adopt the policy passed unanimously.

On meeting schedule, Council member Cedar asked staff to consider moving study sessions to later hours because of work conflicts. After discussion of staff availability and member preferences, the council settled on a 6:00 p.m. start for future study sessions and directed staff to update the council rules; the council will vote to adopt the rule change at a subsequent meeting.
