WILMINGTON — The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board heard Feb. 18 that the City Council appropriated $203,000 on Feb. 3 for resurfacing Courts 9 through 18 at the Althea Gibson tennis complex.
Amy credited staff and Terriann Toro, the supervisor at Althea Gibson, for securing multiple USTA grants that will supplement the city’s appropriation. Amy listed grant awards of $7,500, $29,000 and $60,000 from USTA and noted a $5,700 donation from the Breyer Wilmington Tennis Association; she said staff expect resurfacing to begin in April when weather permits.
