County Administrator Rebecca told the Stevens County board that a multi‑county opioid grant award to the nonprofit Vivi could not be executed because the staff member who would coordinate the program resigned. She requested formal cancellation so the funds would be returned to the county opioid fund and be available for the 2026 award cycle.
Rebecca said the cancellation would restore about $74,000 to the opioid fund, bringing the county’s available balance to about $83,000 for reallocation in the coming grant cycle. Commissioners asked whether any funds had been dispersed; staff said the award had not been distributed and most awards were structured as reimbursement except for car care assistance.
A motion to cancel the Vivi award was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote. County staff will include the returned funds in the next opioid grant solicitation for 2026.
