The City Council approved a nonexclusive telecommunications franchise with HyperFiber of Washington LLC (doing business as Ripple Fiber) during its Feb. 17 meeting, voting unanimously to adopt Ordinance No. 2026‑684.
City manager summarized prior council discussion and noted the current action was a second reading and adoption. A company representative, Mitzi McMahon of HyperFiber/Ripple Fiber, briefly addressed the council to thank staff for the efficient process and to introduce herself; she said she would remain available for questions.
Council member Billson moved the ordinance; the motion was seconded and carried 7–0. Council members said they welcomed additional broadband competition and options for residents.
