Training division completes SCBA and CPR recertifications; announces trade day participation

Training staff reported SCBA training and near-complete CPR recertifications, ongoing driver and hazmat training, and said the department will participate in a March 11 trade day at McMahon High School to discuss careers with students.
The Training Division reported completion of SCBA training for the department’s new masks, ongoing fit testing of older masks as a precaution, and that the CPR recertification cycle will be finished by Feb. 20 with make-up modules available online. Training staff said eight members attended an SCBA maintenance class so some maintenance can be handled in-house and described ongoing driver training requirements and upcoming hazmat refresher training in March.
Training staff also said they will attend to promotional testing and planning for live fire training in the fall. The division will send a representative to a public information officer class in Greenwich and invited commissioners to a trade day at Brian/Brien/Brien McMahon High School set for March 11 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., where the department and partners will discuss trade careers with students.
Commissioners praised the training program; no formal action was taken.
