Magna City Council handled several formal actions on July 22, 2025, voting by voice on routine and governance items.
The council approved the consent agenda, including minutes from the July 8 meeting, on a motion by Council member Hall and a second from Council member Sudbury.
Council members then ratified the Magna United CTC board’s election of Audrey Cooley as chair and Wendy Waite as vice chair; Council member Hall moved the ratification and Council member Sudbury seconded. The body approved the ratification by voice vote.
Staff explained that Metropolitan Special District (MSD) rules require appointments by resolution. The council approved Resolution R2025-09 appointing Audrey Pierce as Magna’s MSD alternate; the signed resolution will be forwarded to MSD.
Finally, the council adopted the city’s updated social media policy (dated July 10, 2025). City staff presented the policy as guidance for acceptable content and moderation across Facebook, the city website and MSD page so staff have clear justification to remove potentially defamatory or inappropriate posts. Council member Sudbury moved adoption with Council member Hall seconding; the motion passed by voice vote.
All the above motions were carried by voice vote; the transcript records 'Aye' and 'Hearing none' rather than roll-call tallies. No recorded dissents were noted in the meeting record.
