Magna council adopts resolution certifying primary election results

Magna Township Mayor Eric Marty and the council voted to adopt Resolution R2025-13 on the certification of the 2025 primary election, formally accepting the county-certified results that advance candidates to the general election.

City clerk Amanda Bond presented the county packet and public notice that the council considered. Bond said the mayoral candidates advancing under the county-certified totals are Alexander Adriano and Mickey Sudbury. For District 2, Bond said Megan Olsen and Eric Barney advance; for District 4 she listed Terry George and Trish Cole as advancing. "If you look at just kinda to walk you through it, the first page is the public notice," Bond said, and she confirmed the packet matches what is posted online.

The clerk read vote totals supplied by the county. Bond reported that Mickey Sudbury received 1,142 votes (43%); Alexander Adriano 555 (21%); Michael Vermaier 525 (19%); and Maxwell Thomas White 419 (about 15.87%). In District 2, Bond reported Megan Olsen with 231 votes (47%), Eric Barney with 186 (38%) and Cisco Rodriguez with 71 (14%). In District 4 she read Trish Cole with 179 votes (40%), Terry George with 174 (39%) and Brooks Jones with 90 (20%).

Bond also summarized turnout and ballot-method details: 21.6% of the 12,301 active registered voters participated, she said, with roughly 2,600 counted ballots submitted by drop box or mail, 45 in person and four returned electronically. She noted a minor discrepancy flagged in the packet: the total ballots counted did not match the Vista vote-history report; county staff reported one person who checked in on a device but left without completing voting and about four voters who began voting on a machine but did not finish.

Mayor Marty asked for questions; none were raised. Council member Sudbury moved to pass Resolution R2025-13, with a second voiced in the meeting. The mayor called for a voice vote; the clerk recorded several "Aye" responses and no opposition was voiced, and the mayor declared the motion carried. The council then adjourned the canvass portion of the meeting.

The resolution formally places on record the county-certified primary results and allows the named candidates to advance to the general election under the county's certification.
