At its Sept. 23 meeting, the Magna City Council approved several procedural measures and agreements by voice vote.
Resolution R2025‑10, presented by Daniel Torres, authorizes staff to reduce parking violation penalties in limited circumstances: up to 50% on a first violation, 25% on a second, and no reduction after a third. Councilmember Percocopus moved the resolution and Councilmember Hall seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote.
The council also authorized signature of the Lumen franchise agreement (the item had been presented previously); the motion to allow Lumen’s attorneys to sign the agreement was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Pierce and seconded by Councilmember Hall and passed by voice vote.
Earlier, the consent agenda/minutes issue was discussed because minutes had been amended late; the affected consent item will return on the Oct. 14 agenda. The council also approved bylaws for the newly formed Traffic & Safety Committee (see separate article) and later moved into a closed session to discuss pending or reasonably imminent litigation and real‑property strategy.
