Multiple trustees welcomed Rivera and praised his public‑service background; one trustee noted Rivera’s prior work with the city of El Paso and his experience as a school resource officer. Rivera thanked the board and his family and said he looked forward to serving Del Valle and "getting to work."
Later in the meeting, the board voted unanimously to appoint Trustee Henry Rivera to serve on the YISD School Safety and Security Committee. The motion carried 7–0.
