The council approved Resolution 2026-07 on Feb. 10 to accept two donated granite eagle statues from the Carnahan family.
Staff said the statues have been in storage for more than 20 years and were offered at no cost. Once cleaned, staff proposed displaying one statue in the remodeled City Hall and the other in the new police department. The resolution authorizes the city administrator to accept the donation and establishes city ownership of the pieces.
Staff noted polishing could improve appearance but would be an additional expense the city could avoid if desired. Council members welcomed the donation and acknowledged the family's generosity; the donation passed by voice vote with "ayes" recorded and the motion carried.
The resolution also mentioned a third eagle-themed statue the family offered to the Nixa Public School District; staff said the city is primarily interested in two of the statues.
