Anoka County honors parks communications specialist Nikki Greenwell for state Horizon Award

The Anoka County Board recognized parks communications specialist Nikki Greenwell for receiving the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association Horizon Award.
Commissioner Reinert introduced the recognition, noting Greenwell’s initiatives since joining Anoka County Parks: redevelopment of the parks department website with a focus on accessibility and multiple language options, rebranding print and digital communications, expanded social media promotions, and an augmented-reality trail experience described in the meeting as Minnesota’s first. Reinert said those efforts have helped the department reach more than 2,000,000 engagements with potential park visitors.
Park Director Jeff Perry praised Greenwell’s work and noted she was promoted to communication supervisor in 2022, calling her “an inspirational leader for Anoka County.” Greenwell, who accepted the recognition, thanked the board and said she was happy to work for the parks department.
The board applauded and moved on to committee reports. No formal action was required; the recognition was presented for informational purposes.
