The Saline County Commission on Feb. 17 approved staff recommendations to purchase stock culvert pipe and end sections for use by Road & Bridge crews.
County Engineer Justin Mater said bids opened Feb. 10 produced three responsive offers; staff recommended accepting the low pipe bid from Wellborn Sales for $59,434.20 and the galvanized end-section bid from J & J Drainage Products for $28,025, for a combined total of $87,459.20. Mater said funds would come from the county's 125 account (the 2-mill fund), which he reported has a balance just over $2 million.
A commissioner moved to approve RFA 2026-29 as presented; the board approved the motion 5-0.
Next steps: staff will execute purchase orders in accordance with the award and place the materials into inventory for future use by maintenance crews.
