Committee backs extension, fee cut for paddlecraft rack pilot

She said the resolution would extend the pilot through December and lower fees to $150 for residents and $300 for nonresidents to encourage participation.
Alderman Thorpe asked whether staff could further lower fees midseason if usage remained low. Guile said staff can do so and will return to the finance committee with usage data and any proposed fee adjustments. The chair noted the Office of Law provided an amendment and an updated fiscal-impact report; the committee briefly tabled the item while staff gathered that material and later voted to recommend the resolution to the City Council.
The committee discussion did not include a detailed marketing plan but members indicated added publicity would be needed to increase visibility. The resolution as described will now go to the full council with the committee's favorable recommendation and accompanying legal and fiscal documents.
