The Dawson County Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of ZA25-12, a rezoning and special-use request to allow a self-storage facility on 8.84 surveyed acres along Dawson Forest Road East.
Dylan Lee of Precision United described the request as a rezoning from RA (agricultural/residential) to CRB (commercial rural business) and requested a special use permit to allow mini-warehousing. "As stated in the application, this is a rezoning and special use request from agricultural residential to commercial rural business," Lee said, noting the project remains in the design phase and that final building size and locations are not yet fixed.
Lee said the project anticipates an entrance off Dawson Forest Road East with a proposed right-turn lane. No public speakers appeared in favor or opposition at this meeting. The commission voted to recommend approval to the Dawson County Board of Commissioners; Lee and staff were advised that the item will be presented to the board next month for further hearings and a vote.
Approval by the commission does not finalise the rezoning; the Board of Commissioners will review the case at a March work session and voting session on March 19, per staff comments during the meeting.
