County staff recommend $71,391 award for pavilion structural repairs at Veterans Memorial Park

Milford said Nova Engineering performed materials testing and prepared repair drawings; staff recommended awarding IFB 40493-25 to Crown Service Contractors for $64,901, with a county-controlled 10% contingency of $6,490 for a total recommended contract amount of $71,391 to be paid from Spla 6 funds. “We respectfully recommend that the board award this IFB to Crown Service contractors in the amount of $64,901,” Milford said, noting Crown showed prior experience on similar structures and would not require a subcontractor.
Commissioners questioned whether the scope included redesigns or coverings to prevent future weather-related deterioration and asked about warranties and future inspection schedules. A commissioner noted the original warranty had expired roughly six months before the beam failure; Milford said the new work’s warranty is expected to be five years. Commissioners suggested scheduling annual inspections to catch deterioration before warranty expiration.
