BOCC approves contractor for Mountain Village Town Hall access-control project; county to act as fiscal agent

The San Miguel County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Feb. 18 to approve the recommended contractor for the Mountain Village Town Hall access control project and to serve as fiscal agent for a State Homeland Security Grant that will fund the work.
Ramona Rommel presented the project to the board, noting the county’s role as fiscal agent for a collaborative grant with Mountain Village. Chris Barati, the project lead (on the call), provided the selection team’s recommendation; staff said four bids were received and the tally sheets were included in the meeting packet. Rommel emphasized that Mountain Village has agreed in a memorandum of understanding to backfill federal funding obligations if Homeland Security grant dollars do not materialize.
Commissioners moved and seconded the recommendation to approve the selected contractor (Mitchell and Company) so staff can proceed with a notice of award and negotiate a contract for consideration at a subsequent meeting.
Votes and formal action: Motion to approve the selected contractor and to recognize San Miguel County as the fiscal agent for the State Homeland Security Grant carried unanimously.
