Brea Olinda board approves contracts, vendor agreements and two resolutions in unanimous votes

The Brea Olinda Unified School District Board of Education on Sept. 11 approved a slate of contract renewals, vendor agreements and formal resolutions, with most measures passing unanimously.

The board approved employment contract renewals for district leadership, including terms recorded for Phil D'Agostino, EdD, as assistant superintendent of education services and a renewal for the superintendent. The board also approved the assistant superintendent of business services contract. Each renewal was moved and seconded and passed on recorded votes with five trustees voting in favor.

The board adopted Resolution 24-15 recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month by roll-call vote, 5-0. The board also passed Resolution 24-16 certifying alignment of instructional materials, again by a unanimous vote.

In addition to personnel items, trustees approved multiple vendor and construction agreements across campuses: marquee replacement at Brea Olinda High School, intercom replacement at Falcon, and perimeter‑fence construction work at several sites, among others. Many of the construction and vendor items were considered in grouped motions organized by project site and were approved as batches to expedite work underway this summer and fall.

Treasury and budget documents presented elsewhere on the agenda informed the approvals: administrators and board members repeatedly noted that some capital work relies on voter support for Measure H and that many grant funds are restricted for specific uses.

What happens next: approved contracts move to implementation and the facilities department will schedule work; board members indicated additional follow-up items on sign relocation and project timelines will return to the board for further discussion and scheduling.
