During the meeting the student representative, Juliana Santos, recapped recent student achievements and school events.
Santos reported that the National Honor Society inducted 81 new members and presented the NHS teacher of the year award to Mr. Gangloff. She described junior Alina Parikh’s recent surgical volunteer work with Operation Smile in Malawi and said Pierce Gornstein won a social-studies logo contest tied to the Revolutionary War sesquicentennial programming. Santos also highlighted violinist Emily Wang’s selection for the New Jersey All-State Orchestra and receipt of the Governor’s Award in Music, and she summarized the fall instrumental music showcase, including a Wind Ensemble program commemorating America’s 250th Revolutionary War anniversary. Finally, Santos noted a November presentation by Long Hill Historic Preservation representatives to social-studies classes.
Superintendent Dr. Jewett also reminded attendees that the Dec. 9 meeting will start at 6 p.m., include closed session 6:00–6:30 p.m., public remarks and recognition of retiring board members and staff (including Patricia Tobin), a brief auditor report, and a 7–8 p.m. discussion with representatives from the Rowan Regionalization Institute.
