Student representatives reported the math team is tied for first locally and two students advanced in the American Mathematics Competition; music and theater students placed in region/state competitions and 13 students were selected for a national art anthology.
Student representatives delivered a detailed report of recent student accomplishments at Watchung Hills Regional High School.
The math team is tied for first locally (75 points) and two students — David Wu and Anish Bhavansi — advanced to the next round of the American Invitational Mathematics Examination after strong performances in the American Mathematics Competitions. Thirteen student artists were selected for national publication in a 2025 art anthology. The music and theater programs also earned honors: nine instrumentalists were chosen for the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Region 2 ensembles, vocalists placed in top rankings and the scripting-cue theater program placed at state competitions, including a first-place finish in the Shakespeare category for Jason Barnofsky. Rebecca Lubeck, a senior, accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Other extracurricular achievements noted included the mock trial team's win over Bridgewater (with Pierce Kornstein named best attorney), the science school's fourth-place finish at an invitational and upcoming travel to the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab for the Regional Science Bowl on Feb. 21. Teachers and advisors were singled out for mentorship and support.
The report highlighted opportunities for the school to showcase students' work regionally and nationally and credited staff and advisors for student success.
