CT Paid Leave Authority committee keeps bimonthly schedule; chair to step up to board vice-chair

The CT Paid Leave Authority’s Outreach and Engagement Committee confirmed it will continue meeting every other month and announced a planned leadership change during its November session.
After a year of meeting every other month, staff asked members whether the cadence remained appropriate for 2026. Multiple members said the current schedule strikes the right balance between meeting efficiency and thoroughness; no formal motion was taken and staff said they will plan for the next convening in January 2026.
During the meeting the committee’s long‑time chair said she will step up to serve as vice chair of the board and will step down as committee chair while remaining on the committee. The chair credited committee members for their work over five years and publicly announced that Ava Bermudez Zimmerman will assume the committee chair role. Staff noted this was an announcement under the bylaws rather than an election or formal vote.
Procedural motions at the meeting included a motion to approve the September minutes (moved by Sheila Hammel; Adrienne Cochran recorded an abstention and the chair said the motion carried) and a motion to adjourn, which the chair recorded as carrying with four ayes and adjourned the meeting at 9:38 a.m.
