The Connecticut State Advisory Council for Special Education Executive Committee confirmed plans for a legislative breakfast on Feb. 25, with the event set for 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., according to the meeting record.
An unidentified committee member said, “The breakfast itself is from 9 to 10.” Staff warned the meeting space is only guaranteed for that hour and emphasized that legislators often linger after the scheduled time, so the committee should plan accordingly. Staff advised that, if conversations run over, participants can move into the dining area adjacent to the room.
Committee members agreed the event should feature short remarks: the chair will give a brief introduction, Brian will provide overview comments and four council members will each make two‑ to three‑minute statements on one of the council’s priority areas. The group decided a one‑page summary of the council’s asks would be the primary handout for legislators.
Christine and Lauren (staff) said they will resend the flyer and a registration link; they will also post the annual report online and provide a QR code for on‑site access while keeping a small number of hard copies available for legislators who prefer paper. Staff also said confirmation emails will include parking directions and alternate paid parking options near the Lyceum.
The committee directed the legislative work group to meet the next day to finalize who would speak to legislators at the breakfast and to confirm the distribution list for the one‑pager and annual report.
The full council meeting will follow the breakfast at the Lyceum, with staff confirming venue hours and logistics in registration emails.
