Student representative Anna Pasquowitz honored by New Jersey State Board as she departs for college

Anna Pasquowitz, a senior at Palmyra High School, delivered her final report as the State Board of Education’s student representative and was recognized with a ceremonial resolution at the board’s June meeting.
“School is so incredibly important,” Pasquowitz said, describing how her role allowed her to share student perspectives on cell phone policies, artificial intelligence and mental health initiatives. She told the board she hopes her contributions “have resonated and made a positive contribution” to the board’s work.
Board members praised Pasquowitz’s monthly reports and thanked her advisers and family. The board read a resolution that details Pasquowitz’s service from July 2024 to June 2025, notes her participation in statewide advisory bodies and commends her leadership. The board voted to approve the resolution by voice vote; the motion carried.
Commissioner Kevin Damer and board members encouraged Pasquowitz to stay engaged after graduation; Pasquowitz said she plans to attend Boston College and study psychology.
The recognition was procedural and honorary; no formal policy action followed from Pasquowitz’s departure. The board also noted that the student representative role will continue with a successor, Caitlin DuRose of East Brunswick High School, who is expected to assume responsibilities next month.
