Summary
TSB staff reported on legislative session timing and technology bills—AI and cybersecurity among priorities—and a single online public commenter urged use of an 'AgenTek AI' to accelerate projects; the meeting then adjourned without votes.
Josh Johnson gave the Technology Services Board a briefing on the legislative session timeline, recent cutoff dates and technology bills the board is tracking. He said session opened Jan. 12 and reminded members of policy and fiscal committee cutoffs; among topic areas he highlighted were artificial intelligence regulation, cybersecurity and a pending disclosure exemption for a digital experience project.
Johnson said the governor has proposed legislation addressing regulation of AI companion chatbots and that WATEC is tracking more than 40 technology‑related bills. Board members had no immediate objections and asked staff to continue monitoring bills as cutoffs approach.
During public comment, one online participant suggested that a product referred to as "AgenTek AI" could lower costs, increase resources and accelerate schedules for the modernization projects the board discussed. No other public comments were received and the board adjourned. No votes were taken because the meeting lacked a quorum.
