Township annual report: about $5 million in reported business improvements and 28 building permits in 2025

Staff presenter Speaker 2 summarized the Cascade Charter Township 2025 annual report and highlighted local investment and project activity. "The investment on interior improvements is a little over $4,000,000 ... and exterior are a little over $1,000,000," Speaker 2 said, adding that the board recorded 28 building permits in the district.
Speaker 2 walked members through completed and ongoing projects documented in the report: the township's purchase of Verbergs, design work on the Tassel Park reimagining, increased use of Friendship Park, façade and site grants, landscaping and Centennial Park medians, completion of the Cascade Road bridge work and seasonal banner installations.
Speaker 2 also said the township concluded a first year under a new hotel ordinance and will circulate a separate presentation with a page for every hotel and an update on the ordinance's effects. "We saw a significant drop in crime rates, throughout the the at all the hotels throughout the the township," Speaker 2 said; he committed to forwarding the full hotel-status presentation to board members.
Staff said they will bring a proposal to reinstate site improvement grants at the March meeting, contingent on a small budget adjustment; those grants were suspended while the zoning update was pending.
