The Teton County School District #1 Board of Trustees on April 16 opened a short application window to identify an interim superintendent who would serve until June 2026 while the district pursues a permanent search.
Board Chair announced that "anybody who has the qualifications and the interest in applying for the interim superintendent, [should] send a cover letter and a resume to my school district email address by this Friday at 05:00," and said the board hopes to announce a decision no later than May 21.
The announcement lays out a multi-step review process: applicants will be asked to meet with the superintendent's advisory council and the family advisory council so school and family stakeholders can provide input, the chair said. The board will then interview candidates and make a public appointment.
The board did not set further formal candidate criteria in the meeting; the chair said staff will finalize the process and schedule candidate meetings with advisory councils before the May board meeting. No formal motion or vote is required to begin the application process beyond the chair's announcement.
Next steps: the board expects to collect applications this week, hold advisory-council interviews in late April, and schedule candidate interviews with the trustees with an announcement targeted for May 21.
