Board recognizes student musicians, athletes and coaches for state and national accomplishments

Trustees used the June 11 meeting to celebrate student achievements in music and athletics. The district introduced Colin Bingo (identified as Milken Educator of the Year and the district music director) who summarized several honors: the orchestra earned a superior rating at the state festival, band and choir received excellent ratings, and ensembles placed at the Music in the Parks Festival in Denver where the district’s music program won the Spirit Corps Award for exemplary sportsmanship and conduct.
Music director Colin Bingo credited community partners (including Tea Time Music School, visiting clinicians and the Grand Teton Music Festival) for building the district’s music programs and announced plans for expanded musician residencies at the high school next year to support K–12 music instruction.
The board also recognized student athletes and coaches: the softball program noted a sportsmanship award winner and a senior student set to continue playing at Arizona Christian University, and boys’ and girls’ soccer teams were acknowledged for state and regional championships, including the girls’ first‑ever state championship in school history. Coaches and several students introduced themselves to the board and described season highlights.
