Trustees received updates July 16 on multiple capital projects that district staff described as moving forward.
Facilities staff reported the employee housing project is on schedule with exterior brick and interior stair installation under way and paving beginning. The district said the 24 new units will require a broader employee-housing program and allocation policy; current allocations for existing units follow a lottery weighted by years of service and other criteria. "We will be working on a broader employee housing program" and bring recommendations on goals and allocation to the board, staff said.
On transportation, staff said owner-rep services were discussed with two firms and a preconstruction meeting is scheduled for July 21; architect Jeremy Slater is slated to attend and the owner's rep (if approved on tonights agenda) will provide regular updates.
For Summit Innovations, trustees were told the School Facilities Commission approved emergency funding for a single-use bathroom, allowing a faster procurement path than a full RFP; staff said it may be possible to complete the work outside of the academic term or during breaks but they do not expect full completion by the start of the term.
Trustees asked for notification of stakeholder meetings for housing allocation and requested staff circulate fair-market-value guidance and tax implications for subsidized housing. Finance and HR staff agreed to coordinate and return with proposals to the finance-audit committee and the full board.
