District capital projects staff and the owner’s representative gave a progress report on the new transportation facility, saying a building permit is in hand and early construction work has begun.
Jason, the owner’s representative, outlined the near‑term schedule: foundation work in the fall, structural steel and weather‑sensitive work this winter, and a goal of a roof over the building by February to allow mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in spring. The project team is aiming for the facility to be in operation for the 2026–27 school year.
"The goal is to have this building up and running for the school season, for 2026‑27," Jason told trustees during the presentation.
Project staff described routine construction controls (weekly project manager meetings, tracking submittals and RFIs, early ordering of long‑lead items) and identified primary risks: material procurement, winter weather impacts and the potential for unknowns during excavation (historic buried objects or contamination could slow work). Contractors have mobilized and started initial site demolition and foundation preparation. Trustees praised the update and had no outstanding procedural objections.
